Charles Mbire, the chairman of Uganda’s biggest telecom company MTN has been appointed the patron of the Kabale Municipal Development Forum (KMDF). Rev. Fr. Balthazar Ndomugabe, the president of the forum made the announcement on Monday afternoon during a committee meeting at the Kabale Municipal Council headquarters.
“I recently contacted our son Mr. Mbire to be our patron and he accepted immediately. We want to thank him,” Fr. Ndyomugabe who’s also the parish priest of Rushoroza Catholic Parish in Kabale Diocese, said.
Mbire, 60 is born from Kabale district, Kabale municipality.
Prime minister Ruhakana Rugunda was appointed as the promoter of the forum. Others personalities who were appointed as promoters s include business mogul Musinguzi Garuga James, Bank of Uganda Governor Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, Dr. Munini Mulera, Dr. Peter Ngategize, Minister of state for planning David Bahati among others.
Kabale Municipal Council in partnership with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and other stakeholders in the transforming settlements of the urban poor programme in Uganda program on 9th July 2010 came together and initiated the KMDF .
The forum brings together all urban development stakeholders in the municipality to formulate solutions that shape Kabale municipality’s development agenda.
