Commercial dancer Kyeyune Moses alias Wembley Mo has revealed why he is at war with the management of rapper Patrick Senyonjo famously known as Fresh Kid.
While speaking to Watchdog Uganda, Wembley disclosed that he has no problem with the seven-year-old, but his problem is with the Kid’s manager, ‘Francis’ who uses wrong techniques to make news and cover up the singer’s past.
Wembley, a few weeks back went under spotlight when Fresh Kid claimed that he has never been under his foundation and that he (Wembley) used to solicit money from his parents, with the promise to link the Kid with rapper Fik Fameica.
But according to the dancer, Fresh Kid’s management does not want to accept the fact that Fresh Kid was discovered by him through his Wembley Mo foundation, as he narrates the Kid’s journey to fame.
“I met Fresh Kid in Luwero when we had gone for an entertainment show. He requested for the mic, we gave it to him and he performed Fik Fameica’s song. The audience was so pleased by his performance, but to us that wasn’t special because we had seen it a million times during our various shows. I initially refused to take him under my foundation but his father begged me to lend his son a hand which I later accepted.”
He claims that he brought Fresh Kid to Kampala for the first time, under his Wembley Mo foundation around March 2018, but being that he had parents; Wembley suggested that he should stay with his parents and only come for rehearsals over the weekend.
“When I accepted to take in the Kid, the father was so happy. He suggested that we sign a contract but I told him that I don’t sign children under my foundation, I only have a roll call book for proper monitoring. The Kid couldn’t live with us full time, so I discussed with the father and we agreed that he will provide him transport to Kampala, and I will be providing transport back to the village, and that is how life was with the younger rapper.”
Wembley narrates that Fresh Kid used to come to Kampala with his elder brother, although sometimes the father would bring him for rehearsals.
“Fresh Kid would join the rest during our weekend meetings, rehearsals, shows, interviews. I have videos to backup my statement. And even though I do not have much to give to the children under my foundation, at least over the weekend we all dine together and highlight our challenges, spot out the indiscipline cases, plan the way forward and strategize. Most of these moments are recorded.”
Wembley also claims that Fresh Kid was not so special because there are many talented children in his foundation. Besides, he used to treat him just like the rest, so there is no way he would have requested money from him in exchange of extra attention.
“My foundation does not focus on one person but everyone under it. I started this foundation to give children an opportunity to shine and give them a bright future. That’s why I don’t sign anyone on joining. I believe that all my kids are talented, and always pray that someone can discover them and lend an extra hand because I don’t have the finances to do so,” he says.
When Fresh Kid got new management, Wembley claims that he had no problem with it since it was always his prayer. But what made him lose his cool is when the Kid said during an interview that he (Wembley) used to request money from them.
“I didn’t come out to claim anything from the Kid after he left the foundation. But it was a surprise when they started using him to attack me, to make matters worse, the father also came out and supplemented these false allegations. I really cursed him.”
Wembley further discloses that Fresh Kid was discovered by his current management during Fik Fameica’s My Journey concert that happened at Kyadondo Rugby grounds after receiving wild cheers for performing his (Fameica) ‘Born to win’ song.
“Weeks after Fameica’s show, I noticed that Fresh Kid was no longer attending meetings. I called his father to ask about the Kid, this is when he told me that he got himself a new manager, and that if I wanted him, I should contact a one Francis. Francis too called me and said that he currently has full rights over the Kid, which was fine with me. I was happy that at least I provided him a platform.”
“Fresh Kid can’t make me any better, not before, not now. I am already a star on my own and have over 300 children looking out for me to shine their future. It’s so selfish of Fresh Kid’s manager to tarnish my brand in a bid of shinning one artiste (Fresh Kid), forgetting the 300 I have in my foundation.”
Wembley claims that he will never forgive Fresh Kid’s father for tarnishing his name unless he apologises in front of a camera.
“I have no problem with the rapper because he is too young, but I blame his shamelessly appeared on TV to trash talk my name in a bid of promoting his son, I know that on day the truth will haunt them down.”
