Young rapper Patrick Ssenyonjo, famously known as Fresh Kid has on Tuesday morning met State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi to iron out their differences.
Fresh Kid’s visit follows the minister’s threats to have the seven-year-old rapper and his business ‘partners’ arrested if he continued doing commercial gigs. She said the artiste was to be allowed to continue singing only if his management and family convinced her (Nakiwala) with a proper work plan that indicates the time he spends in school, sleep and attends to music.
Nakiwala further revealed that she was to subject the ‘Banteka’ singer to a drug test to ascertain whether he is mentally sober or not.
Days after the minister’s comments, Fresh Kid released a song dubbed ‘Bambi’ pleading to Nakiwala to let go of his music talent since it has impacted positively on his life and that of his parents.
On Monday, Member of Parliament on the Parliamentary Forum for Youth and Children warned the minister against suffocating the young talent in the country in the name of promoting Education.
The legislators led by National Youth Affairs MP Ann Adeke, Mwine Mpaka, Western Uganda Youth Representative and Gaffa Mbwatekamwa, MP Kasambya County said Nakiwala should mind her business of lobbying for the youth and getting children off the streets.
Now that they have met, what next?
