The mayor of Kabale municipality, His Worship Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha has once again proved that he could move permanently to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party from opposition Forum for Democratic Chage (FDC). The mayor, who rose to the heights through the FDC party on Wednesday, said he will never be associated with the party again.
“Those of you who say I was bought off by the NRM say it but me I will go with development. I will work for both,” Byamugisha said.
The mayor said he was chased from FDC and the NRM seemed friendly to him.
He was speaking at Kabale Municipal County headquarters during a function at which the district received Shs25 billion from Uganda Support for Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID). He said Kabale has benefited a lot from them and that it’s the ruling party that has brought development in Kabale.
Prime minister Ruhakana Rugunda who hails from Kabale municipality has long been convincing the mayor to transition to the ruling NRM paty. Since confessing that he’s no longer with FDC, the mayor allegedly visits the office of the Prime Minister and has dined with prominent NRM figures in Kabale like minister David Bahati, LCV chairman Patrick Besigye Keihwa, RDC Darius Nandinda among others.
Byamugisha contested in 2016 and won the Kabale mayoral seat on an independent ticket, after disputing the FDC Primaries which he said were rigged by the then incumbent mayor Dr Pius Ruhemurana.
Today, Byamugisha’s words on NRM seem very friendly and could completely subscribe to it.
