Kick boxing sensation Patricia Apolot is in Austria where she will take part in two non-title fights later this month.
The defending and reigning Ugandan Kickboxing Champion will go pound for pound against Hungarian Bother Boglarka who is a former World Amateur Junior Boxing champion on March 23 before locking horns with Serbian based Branka Arambasic on March 30 in Sopron, Austria.
Apolot, says that these fights will aid in her preparations for her upcoming world title fight against Romanian Adriana Tatu, a former European WKF Pro K1 champion in Hungary, Szeged on May 11th 2019.
Apolot will be defending her World Kickboxing Federation title that she won in June 2015 after defeating by then world champion Ivana Mirkov of Serbia in Dunaujvaros, Hungary.
“I am delighted that I will have two fights in Austria. I believe they will help me prepare for world title fight slated in May this year,” said Apolot.
However, she called upon the National Council for Sports to help sportsmen in the country acquire diplomatic passports to ease their movements for international competitions because it is most times a challenge to them.
“I thank National Council for Sports and the Uganda Kickboxing Federation for the support they have rendered to me. But I humbly request NCS to help us the sports women and men who travel to get us diplomatic passports and also give more support to the Kickboxing fraternity with more funds.” she continued.
NCS assistant secretary David Katende said they will continue giving the necessary support towards all sportsmen and women who will be representing the country.
“We have worked hand in hand with the ministry of foreign affairs to deal with sportsmen and women who travel to other countries to get passports early enough. The ministry put in place a sports diplomacy desk which will be responsible to all our representatives in sports to acquire visas early enough,” Katende asserted.
Apolot, is the most decorated female kick boxer on the continent after winning 16 of her 1U international fights and boasts of the largest number of belts and medals in Africa.
