The year 2021 is going to be tough for some Members of Parliament especially those who have performed below expectations in the eyes of their voters.
In Ruhinda County, Mitooma District the excitement ended the day people voted Captain Donozio Kahonda as their area parliamentary representative ahead of Gen Otafiire Kahinda in 2016 due to the constant conflicts that have been in place between the two.
While Capt Kahonda was sworn in as MP Elect, Gen Kahinda was sworn as Minister in Charge of Justice and Constitutional affairs.
Kahonda was born on April 16, 1975 and not much is known about him. His education has become a big subject of controversy after his academic documents were challenged in court.
Ruhinda County remains a militarized constituency in Uganda with two army men fighting to lead a community that needs services through lobbying.
Meanwhile, the two rivaling officers (kahonda and Kahinda) have already expressed interest for the county parliamentary seat come 2021.
However, Mzee Justus Nahabwe, a Ruhinda constituent says they are tired of being led by army men since they have relied on them from 1986 but all they do is saluting President Yoweri Museveni instead of lobbying for them.
“We want someone else who is not an army man so that he can have time for people and lobby for development,” Nahabwe said.
Seezi Kansiime, 35 also joins the likes of Otafiire to vie for the same position.
Kansiime, a youthful and vibrant entrepreneur has vowed to steer debate in Parliament and lobby for development once elected.
