National Resistance Movement (NRM) Members of Parliament have formed a parallel Buganda caucus to coordinate party activities among themselves on the legislative assembly.
The MPs who are currently in Kyankwanzi National Leadership Institute (NALI), on Sunday evening reached a position to have Kabula Constituency Legislator James Kakooza as their Chairperson, deputised by Hajat Syda Bbumba from Nakaseke South Constituency.
According to the party spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa, the committee will be tasked to lobby programmes and projects from government to benefit the entire Buganda Kingdom and liaise with Mengo establishment to give support to Kingdom programs set to benefit the Region.
Others on the committee include, Bukoto South’s Muyanja Mbabaali who was elected Treasurer, Kasozi Muyomba (Bukoto Mid-West) as the General Secretary and Simeo Nsubuga (Kasanda South) as Publicity Secretary.
The Parliamentarians also unanimously elected Chief Whip and Kiboga District Woman Representative Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu as an ex-officio on the Committee while Bukuya MP Dr. Michael Bukenya Kyabikoola is a Committee Member.
Sam Kuteesa Kahamba was elected Patron.
Speaking after elections, Nsubuga clarified that the leadership of Buganda Parliamentary Caucus still exists comprising all MPs from Buganda regardless of their political affiliation.
The current Buganda Parliamentary caucus led by Mukono South MP Muyanja Ssenyonga is the largest grouping of legislators in the 10th Parliament having over 100 members of the over 400 members in the August House.
