Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs minister has put aside wrangles between Kampala and Kigali, to lead tributes to fallen Ministry of Trade Permanent Secretary (PS) Julius Onen.
The deceased, who was PS Foreign Affairs Ministry before being posted to Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, succumbed to high blood pressure, on Sunday evening.
Amb. Onen’s death was announced by the ministry of Trade through a tweet on Sunday evening.

He was proprietor of Nile Discovery Resort Beach Njeru Jinja, made famous by the annual Nyege Nyege festival and father of james Onen, a radio personality famously known as Fat Boy.
On Monday morning, Sezibera tweeted; “Saddened to hear of the passing on of Ambassador Julius Onen. @jumuiya has lost a tireless advocate. Condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May He Rest in Peace.”

East Africa Legislative Assembly Member Dr. Abdullah Hasnuu Makame also sent his condolence message through tweeter saying @jumuiya has lost Ambassador Julius Onen, former Deputy SG EAC and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Uganda. He succumbed to cancer in India. We pray for his soul and condole as #EAC Family.

Amb. Onen, according to sources had just returned from India where he was taken for treatment for unspecified illness.
Burial arrangements are yet to be revealed.
