Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary is facing a spate of senior-level exits.
According to our sources, many staff – who spoke on condition of anonymity – are considering throwing in the towel especially after former executive director Lily Ajarova was appointed Uganda Tourism Board head.
Ms Ajarova, who was replaced by Dr Joshua Rukundo, started work at UTB this week.
However, before she could even settle in her chair, Eric Ntalo, who has been the Sanctuary’s spokesperson called it quits.
“You get a strange feeling when you leave a place. Like you’ll not only miss the people you love, but you miss the person you are at this time and place because you’ll never be this way ever again. It is a wrap in the ‘Chimpanzee Business’, but still have unfinished business in the tourism sector. It was a pleasure serving as the PR architect of the Ngamba Island chimpanzees,” Ntalo, who has been at facility for three years, posted on his facebook wall.
“Enjoy the Lent Period.”
Fondly known as ‘Captain’, Ntalo, also tourism enthusiast and writer, has been darling to many of his contemporaries, especially those in the Conservation Media Camp, for whom he organised several familiarisation trips to various tourism destinations.
“Let us continue to support Chimpanzee Trust because it needs us more than ever,” he told the team.
On Monday, he met with Dr Rukondo and expressed his desire to explore other interests.
He however, remains tight-lipped about his next destination.
