Following the shooting incident that almost claimed the life of rapper Gibson Wabuyu alias Gravity Omutujju, on February 20 in Kassanda District, Andrew Benon Kibuuka, the chairperson of Federation of Performing Artistes of Uganda (FPAU) has pinned the cause to poor artiste’s management.
According to Kibuuka, many artistes work with reckless people who claim to be managers, and band wagon crew members, who fight when the artiste fight, and also laugh or get angry when the artiste does.
However, he has advised musicians to always get serious and professional managers, who can always give proper directions and instructions fo their activities.
This shooting incident happened as the singer was on his way for a show in Kassanda , when a security guard at LK Filling station shot at his car.
Gravity’s personal DJ, James Mwange, said they had parked at the fuel station as the ‘winner’ singer was communicating to a one Sendagire who was hosting them for a show, to give them further directions to the venue.
But one of the guards identified as Amos Muhewa by police didn’t like the idea of seeing them packed at the fuel station so both parties and by the end of it, he started shooting at Gravity’s crew.
That’s when two bullets glazed Omutujju’s stomach, and later rushed to Rubaga Hospital for treatment with the help of Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament Francis Zaake called an ambulance.
