The Uganda Museum has decided to take its milk exhibition across the country in the next three months.
The exhibition, which was first staged successfully at the Uganda Museum in 2017, will go around the country by use of a mobile van, and will showcase milk business, culture and politics.
Dubbed the ‘Milk Mobile Museum’, the educative project will be launched on Monday February 25, at the Uganda Museum in Kamwokya, Kampala. Earlier in the day, there will be a workshop on milk business, culture and politics from 10am.
According to Amon Mugume, the project coordinator, the ‘Milk Mobile Museum’ will go around the country for the next three months, starting with eastern Uganda. He adds, it will also feature at the International Wildlife Day which will celebrated in Arua come March 3.
The mobile museum, is a project promoted by the Uganda National Museum in conjunction with the Ethnographic Museum of Zurich and Igongo Cultural Institute.
Uganda’s first Milk exhibition was launched on 22 September 2017 and it ran three months at the Uganda Museum and Igongo Cultural Institute in Mbarara. The exhibition will run under the theme ‘Drink Deeply! Milk Exhibition’.
Mugume says the museum exhibition is about milk as culture and business in Uganda and Switzerland.
“It brings out insights on history, traditions and milk products, indigenous knowledge systems of the communities and process of making milk products as well as displays the status of milk in Uganda today, the global present, gender roles, environmental, political economy as well as global perspectives.”
