The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested two staff of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
Hassan Miiro and Ferdinand Wamala, were arrested with the help of police for allegedly taking a Shs45 million bribe from a Jinja business man, Nkata Jomo.
According to sources, the two worked with Domestic Taxes and had promised to help the businessman dodge taxes worth Shs3b.
According to Nkata, he tipped off the State House Anti-Corruption Unit because he was tired of being pressured by URA officers to pay bribes.
The duo was arrested by four plain clothed officers and ferried to unknown destination.
The Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema led State House Anti-Corruption Unit was unveiled last year by President Museveni during the commemoration of the World Anti-Corruption Day.
They will be arraigned in court this week.
