South Ankole Diocese is today celebrating it’s 7th anniversary at St Mathews’ Cathedral Kyamate Ntungamo Municipality.
The Diocese was established on January 8th, 2012 after being curved out of Ankole and West Ankole dioceses.
Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe, was consecrated as the pioneer bishop.
Before pronounced as the first Bishop by the house of Bishops, he was the chaplain at St. James Chapel Makerere University Business School and holds a Master of Arts Degree in Christian Education from Reformed Theological Seminary Mississippi, USA.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe,speaking to the media on Saturday lauded the people of God for the cooperation and contribution towards the success and visible developmental projects which have enabled the diocese to witness its seventh birth day.
He revealed that the day was pushed ahead from February 6, to prepare enough and launch diocesan theme for this year 2019 which reads “Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go, Keep her, for she is your life” from Proverb 4:13.
The retired Archdeacon Venerable Rev Canon James Ndyanabo Rutaraka noted that the diocese extended service nearer to the Christians compared walking long distance to Ankole and West Ankole dioceses.
The chairperson board of Mission south Ankole Diocese Lay Canon Tumwesigye Ezekiel said that gospel has been preached in and around south Ankole diocese, counseling of desperate believers among others.
The woman MP Ntungamo district Hon Beatrice Rwakimaari congratulated Bishop Ahimbisibwe and all believers of the diocese upon marking seven years of existence.
