Seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC will make the trip to Buhinga Stadium on Tuesday hoping to make history as the first team to beat hosts Tooro United at their new home.
The two sides are also meeting at Buhinga for the first time in the league with Express in seventh on 21 points, one point above Tooro United which is three places below in 10th.
The Red Eagles won the first leg 2-0 at Wankulukuku but the tables seem to have turned this time round as Tooro will feel they have what it takes to inflict revenge on their visitors.
Tooro have already seen a couple of top sides fall at Buhinga- which is quickly growing into one of the fiercest grounds – sucah as KCCA in the Uganda Cup last week.
And Express’ new signing striker Brian Umony, who will be hoping to make his debut, has quickly joined into the rivalry by claiming that their target will not be short of a win because Express is a much bigger side when compared to Tooro.
“I’m very sure it’s not going to be an easy game. You can not underestimate any team in this league but of course we want to go out and win we are a big club with a big following which expect us to win and we want to win this game on Tuesday,” Umony told the club’s official website.
It will not be easy sailing for Umony and company as the home side boasts several former employees of Express including coach Wasswa Bbosa and players Simon Sserunkuuma, Mahad Kakooza, Willy Kavuma and Steven Luswata.
However, midfielder Allan Kayiwa, Tooro’s leading goal scorer this season with five and chief orchestrator on the offence will be the one Kefa Kisaala’s side want to keep a close eye on as the diminutive midfielder has been in top form this season.
“We have been training very well; just like any other match we always approach it with a strategy that we believe will help us. We are aware of Kayiwa’s form but we have not planned otherwise for him,” Kefa asserted.
New signings Umony, Sadiq Ssekyembe, Goffin Oyirwoth and Ivan Ocholit are all in line to make their debuts on Tuesday.
