Oxfam Executive Director Winnie Byanyima on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on President Yoweri Museveni at Hotel Grischa Monta in Davos, Switzerland.
According to a local newspaper Daily Monitor, the two talked about building strong internal middle class systems that push for great dynamism for goods and services that build strong integration blocs and ultimately improve economic development and transformation.
Both leaders are currently attending the World Economic Forum slated to end Friday January 25.
After their meeting, Museveni also addressed other leaders in a symposium organized by the Africa Strategy Group on the theme of shaping Africa’s agenda in the global context.
He urged them to avoid a universal dimension approach to shape Africa’s future.
“Whereas this might have worked in the 1950s when the universal emphasis was on education, helping countries like South Korea to develop and transform many other countries did not succeed. Today, Africa is rising partly because governments are not hostile to the private sector. We lagged behind for long because many of our governments viewed the private sector with suspicion,” he said.
