Football governing body Fufa has sounded a warning to teams that fail to honour their Uganda Cup fixtures.
This follows the forfeiture of several round of 64 Uganda Cup matches, including top division club Paidha Black Angels showing up late for its tie against Express. Big League sides Jinja Municipal Council and Kabale Sharp also failed to honour their Cup games.
While speaking during the draws of the round of 32 in Kampala on Thursday, FUFA competition director Aisha Nalule, condemned clubs that failed to honour their fixtures and called upon the remaining 32 to go the extra mile and prepare well for their ties.
“We call upon the clubs to honor the fixtures in this round and failure will lead to docking off points. I can confirm that Jinja Municipal council Hippos and Kabale Sharp have already been docked off points for failure to honor their round of 64 fixtures against URA FC and Calvary FC respectively,” said Nalule.
The all-UPL encounters between BUL and Mbarara, Kirinya Jinja SS who were drawn against Onduparaka and Tooro United against defending Champions KCCA are the biggest highlight of the round of 32. Other UPL teams were drawn against lower league opposition.
The round of 32 games are expected to be played between January 11 and 17. Clubs that will make it to the round of 16 will be sure to walk away with atleast Shs2.5 million.
