With the 2019 national rally season set to kick off early February next year, Ugandan rally drivers have stepped up preparations.
As always the off season is a chance to re-evaluate the previous year and set target for the forth coming season championship season. Different rally teams use this as a window to upgrade to better cars or do necessary upgrades to their current ones.
MOIL Rally team driver Yassin Nasser has done the former and acquired a new monster machine that is set to conquer the local rally scene in the forth coming season.
Nasser acquired a Subaru GVB R4 from Kenyan driver Amar Haq who has been in recess and has not competed in the car since acquiring it in 2017. The monster previously belonged to African Rally Champion Manvir Baryan before it conquered the Kenyan rally with Tapio Laukanen in 2017.
Mubiru ‘Kikankane’ Duncan was the first driver to give Ugandans a taste of the GVB after acquiring his last year also from Kenyan Manvir Baryan.
Nasser’s acquisition of the GVB is an advance as he has previously raced in a less powerful Subaru Imprezza N10 for the past two seasons.
