Kaydondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has been nominated as the ‘Personality of the year 2018’ by Africa News.
These awards recognize the person or institution that dominated or made an impact in the news over the course of the last 12 months.
Africa News stated reasons why Bobi Wine was nominated, claiming that his social contribution to the society through his music was a plus for him.
Other reasons included taking a center stage in a parliamentary fracas on the age-limit vote, his red beret People Power Movement and ‘Ghetto President’ label, his driver being shot and killed supposedly by state agents, among other scenarios that have kept Bobi in the news.
According to the organizers, a nomination is the first of the three-step process. ”An online – Twitter poll – will add to our in-house poll and then lead to the crowning of our personality of the year on January 1, 2019” reads the statement.
Bobi Wine is up against Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, the Ebola responders in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Paul Kagame for his work as 2018 President of the African Union.
