Ntungamo Municipality Member of Parliament Gerald Karuhanga Kafureeka on Saturday donated Shs50 million to 40 traders as relief aid for the business community who lost their merchandise in the recent fire that gutted the Bankoko market Ntungamo municipality.
Karuhanga delivered the Shs50 million while meeting the traders at Ntungamo Municipal grounds.
The market, which is found in Western Division, was gutted by fire on Monday morning destroying more than 40 kiosks.
The legislator told the gathering that he is making a clandestine move to uproot all remnants of the ruling party NRM in the Municipality who are sabotaging his visionary plans to develop the town.
He also gave out Shs5.2 million to 53 development groups for registration and opening bank account in order to wire funds as startup capital to registered groups in early next year.
Karuhanga advised the beneficiaries to share and use money to eradicate poverty at house hold level rather than using it for Christmas.
Led by councilor Bukenya Ronald traders noted that all money that was collected will be distributed to them equally such that they can start making ends meet.
