As a way of improving the efficiency of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) operations, President Yoweri Museveni on Saturday made some changes in the army.
Army Spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire confirmed that the president who also serves as Commander In Chief reshuffled 15 senior officers in order to strengthen the operations of UPDF in the Great Lakes region.
“The changes made were strictly to empower our force and as UPDF its our mandate to deliver extreme services to our country,” said Karemire
According to Karemire, Maj Gen Nakibus Lakara was transferred from Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability Centre (URDCC) to AMISOM as deputy Commander Operations.
Maj Gen Fred Ociti Tolit transferred from Burundi to South Africa as advisor on Defence. Brig George Etyang was moved from South Africa to National Counter Terrorism Center
Brig Christopher Bossa transferred from college of logistics to commandant Bihanga Training Centre. Brig Dominic Twesigimwe from CIRMIS to Defence Attaché in South Sudan.
Brig Paul Lokech moved from AMISOM to URDCC, Brig Emanuel Kanyesigye transferred from fourth division Gulu to Defence Attaché in Burundi. Brig James Nambale transferred from camp commandant to Defence Attaché in Russia.
Brig Baguma Bagume moved from National Defence College in India to CRIMIS, Brig Metland Bitumbika was transferred from Chief of Pensions and Gratuity to Military Advisor at UN Mission.
Col. Senkumba Ssebugwawo was transferred from Land Forces Headquarters to Director Personal, Col Bonny Bamwiseki moved from First Division Headquarters to Commander fourth division in Gulu
Col Bob Ojiki transferred from Kimaka to Commandant Junior Staff College, Col Michael Kibuye transferred from Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) headquarters to Adjutant Comp Commandant. Maj David Watasa moved from Military Police to Chief instructor-Junior Command and Staff College.
