A number of roads in downtown Kampala will be closed on Wednesday as President Yoweri Museveni officially launches the Kampala Flyover project.
The ground breaking ceremony will take place along Kafumbe Mukasa Road.
SSP Norman Musinga, Kampala Metropolitan Police traffic commander said the road will be closed from 6am until the function ends thus encouraging the general public to adhere with the traffic guidelines to avoid inconveniences.
“There will be normal traffic flow along Queen’s Way from the city centre. Motorists from Entebbe heading to the city centre will be diverted at Zana Round about, Stella-Namasuba junction and Kibuye Round about,” said Musinga.
“Mengo hill road will also be closed to the general public and traffic will be diverted to Kisenyi and Kibuye Round about whereas traffic from the city centre will not be allowed to access Katwe Wansi and Kafumbe Mukasa road,” he added.
The actual construction of Lot 1 of Kampala Flyover Construction and road upgrading project is expected to start in January 2019 and involves building of clock tower flyover through Kibuli, Nsambya Traffic Lights and connect to Mukwano road.
Lot 2 will commence later and it will connect through Kitgum House, Garden City and Jinja Road.
