Justine Bagyenda has requested that her travel documents be returned back to her to allow her travel abroad for Christmas.
Bagyenda is the former executive director in-charge supervision of commercial banks at Bank of Uganda.
On December 3, the Parliamentary committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (Cosase) confiscated Bagyenda’s passport. This followed news that she had traveled abroad despite orders that she appears before the Cosase. She was supposed to answer questions regarding the sale of the seven defunct banks.
On Friday Cosase chairperson Abdu Katuntu informed the committee that Bagyenda was in need of her travel documents. However, members wanted an assurance that she will avail herself whenever the committee needs her.
Katuntu however ,told committee members that they had no authority to refuse someone to go and enjoy Christmas.
“We cannot refuse her from going abroad but since our meetings are still going on, the committee will make a decision upon her request,” Katuntu told the members on the committee.
He then advised Bagyenda to avail her travel programme to avoid confusions in future.
