Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine, local music rivals, are bound to face off in Accra, Ghana during the All Africa Music Awards, Afrimas that opened on Wednesday with a ‘Welcome Soiree.’
The reception was in honour of arriving Afrima nominees and delegates as well as African Union officials, media and other invited guests.
Uganda’s representatives Bebe Cool, Sheeba Karungi, Irene Namatovu and Sandra Nankoma. Uganda’s flew out of the country on Thursday.
Bobi Wine, a panelist on the Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS) on Thursday arrived in Accra on Wednesday.
Bebe is nominated for Best Male Artiste, East Africa while the ladies are all nominated in the category of Best Female East African Artiste.
According to organisers, all nominees interested in taking part in the AMBS will be given an opportunity to participate. That brings us to the question of whether Bebe Cool would make his way to the Ballroom at Kempinski Hotel to participate in the “discussion platform to interrogate and strategize on the business of music in Africa while charting a synergistic way forward for development and economic empowerment for the music talents.”
We shall keep you posted.
