The Bishop of South Ankole Diocese the Rt Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe has concluded this year’s confirmation pastoral visit, calling upon all Christians to work hard for sustainable income in order to eliminate poverty at household level.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe also tasked Christians to work together as a team instead of leaving women to take burden of the families.
“Poverty and unstable families can be attributed to laziness or idleness because some of you Christians think that political leaders and government will work you. Lose this mentality,” he advised before expressing his appreciation to the believers for the love and warm welcome showed to him and the diocesan team during their six months confirmation pastoral visit in all nine archdeaconries.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe started his pastoral visit on May 21 at All Saints Church, Ntungamo and end on November 20 at Rwoho Parish where 4,420 believers were confirmed and four churches were consecrated.
“There is also more need for parents and guardians to step up your role in packing food for school going children because they cannot study well on an empty stomach,” he advised.
“Also, I encourage you to embrace tree planting in order to protect and conserve the environment. This especially goes out to clerics who must use the idle church land to plant trees for income activities.”
He noted that Shs101m was raised towards the purchase of South Ankole Diocese Mission and Development truck.
