Kabale Municipality has received a boost of Shs29 billion from the government to upgrade the Kabale Central Market. This was revealed by the Kabale Municipal mayor, his worship Emmanuel Byamugisha Sentaro on Friday.
Construction is scheduled to start early next year, 2019.
Mr Sentaro revealed this while holding a meeting with business persons in the market located in Kabale town
According to Sentaro, all business shops and stalls will be shifted to other places in town for the period of about two years until construction is completed.
He said the money was secured from the Ministry of local government and that the market, once completed will improve income of the people, boost tax revenues as Kabale municipality pushes for the city status.
Jinja, Mbale, Masaka, Gulu and several other Municipalities in the country have completed construction of such improved markets.
The meeting attracted other political heads in the district like the Kabale District Chairperson, Patrick Besigye Keihwa and the Kabale Resident District Commissioner, Mr Darius Nandinda.
