Geoffrey has kept out of the limelight ever since he took over the management of his father, James Mulwana’s vast business empire.
Until recently when he came out publicly to support cancer victims and children with disabilities at the recently launched Fenna Tujjune, a charity project by donating Jesa Farm Dairies products such as yoghurt to feed 100 beneficiaries.
Fenna Tujjune initiative takes care of abandoned children with disabilities, supports cancer victims and advocates for social inclusion for Children With Disabilities in Uganda
According to Emmanuel Lovati, the Fenna Tujjune publicist, when they were organising their first charity event in July, four of their beneficiaries said they wished to eat ‘yogurt toffee’. None of the organisers knew what it was until the children said “it’s a Jesa Farm yoghurt product”
“We went and bought them the yogurt from a supermarket but because they were under going chemotherapy they were not having enough of it,” Lovati says.
“One asked our founder, Shantal Ramonah Quolter to go and buy from the factory since it was cheaper. That way, they could have more of it.”
According to Lovati, Ms Ramonah left and just looked for the Jesa Executive Director’s telephone number!
Luckily she got it from her aunty and contacted Mr Mulwana, narrating the story and over the same phone conversation, the businessman asked our founder to go with her ID at their store in Industrial Area and call him again.
“When she did on July 1, Mr Mulwana was out of the country but he asked the lady at the store to give her enough yoghurt to feed 100 children,” Lovati says.
“Our founder came to the venue with so much of flavoured yoghurt, the children could not believe it. This kicked off the joy of the day for 40 cancer victims and 60 children with disabilities.”
Early this month, the team went to thank Mr Mulwana at his office with Victoria, one of the cancer victims who craved for the yoghurt and thus led to the meeting between Ramonah and Mr Mulwana.
“He was happy to meet her and to receive our appreciation. It’s surprising at how humble he is with children,” Ramonah said.
In December, Fenna Tujjune shall have a Christmas party for over 300 disabled children, children with autism, cancer patients and other abandoned children.
