The chairman, finance committee in northern division Kabale municipality has been arrested for stealing and vandalizing plastic disposable containers recently installed in Kabale town by Coca-Cola.
The containers were put in place to collect plastic waste from town.
Mucunguzi Isaac Rushoga, the chairman northern division confirmed to watchdog Uganda that Mr Emmanuel Niwagaba, also a Councillor, was caught red-handed on Sunday stealing the metallic containers, that were meant to collect plastic waste in a move to make kabale town clean.
According to reports Niwagaba has been stealing the metallic containers to make metallic suitcases that are mostly used by students.
Out of the 200 containers that were put in town, 194 of them have been stolen, and only six are remaining.
