Dr Semwogerere out of danger

Former Democratic Party (DP) president General, Dr Paul Kawanga Ssemogerere is out of danger.
The Democratic party honcho collapsed on Sunday morning while attending church service at Rubaga cathedral. The 86-year-old veteran politician was rushed to Lubaga hospital immediately.
News coming from Lubaga says he’s recovering from home after he was discharged from hospital.
Semo, as he popularly referred to by his peers, is a respected politician who retired from active politics in 2005. He stood twice for president in 1980 and 1996 general elections. In the 1980 elections he lost to UPC’s Milton Obote after a controversial vote count. He lost the second time to incumbent and current President Yoweri Museveni in 1996.
Ssemogerere was born on February 11, 1932 in Kisubi, Uganda. He led the Democratic Party in Uganda for 25 years.
Semo attended St. Henry’s College Kitovu for his high school in Masaka district. He received a Diploma in Education from the Makerere University in Kampala, and subsequently he studied the Politics and Government Program at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In 1979 he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Public Administration from Syrcuse University in Syracuse, New York.
