Several musicians – established as well up and coming – came out to eulogise Goodlyf artiste Mowzey Radio musically following his death on February 3.
Among the lot was Wendy Thelma, who, together with Skills on the Beat, pulled off a massive mash-up of Radio’s songs that ‘almost broke the internet’.
The four-minute mash-up, whose video was uploaded on Youtube shortly after and shared wildly on various social media boasts songs such as Kuku, Gutamiza, Dudu, Nkwetaga, Bikola, Neera, Ngenda Maaso, Zino Enaku and finally Remember me.
Before the Radio tribute, Wendy had already received massive recognition for her beautiful rendition of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’.
But this is not what prompted Weasle Manizo to want to sign her rather the mash-up.
“Am looking for this Gyal, please tag her if you know her. Signing her Under Angel Music,” Weasel posted soon after the video went viral.
Looks like Radio’s once singing partner was never successful in trying to woo Wendy.
News reaching us is that the songstress has been snapped up by UG Records. Headed by Henry Ssali and Darius Mugisha, UG Records was responsible for the talents of RabaDaba and Empress a couple of years ago before folding under unclear circumstances.
However, Ssali and Mugisha, together with their associate Edward Ssekalo have since decided to re-launch UG Records by signing Wendy and another ‘fresh talent’ called Roger Kent.
Although Kent is known for covering songs such as Adele’s Hello and Shape of You by Daddy Yo, he has several original songs under his name. They include No Friend Zone, Onsana and Mr Deejay.
Unveiling of the two as well as the ‘reloaded’ UG Records is set for Thursday, October 25 at Lit Lounge (former Diners) in Bukoto.
“After months of behind the scenes work, I’m glad to say that UG Records is ready to serve you two exceptional talents. We shall be unveiling Uganda’s next big stars at Lit Lounge,” Ssali posted on his facebook page.
Kent also took to social media to invite his lovely friends and fans as ‘we (Roger Kent and Wendy Thema) are being unveiled by our new management team.’
Entrance is free
