NBL Finals – Game Three.
City Oilers 72-68 Betway Power.
City Oilers lead finals 2-1
City Oilers have won the National Basketball League title for five years on the bounce. They could as well win a sixth title and equal Falcons after they beat Betway Power 72-68 to take a 2-1 lead in the best of seven final series.
Mandy Juruni’s side, who are considered favourites, did not have it the smooth way. In the first quarter, they managed to win with a three-point difference, scoring 23 to Power’s 20. Oilers continued dominance, winning the next two quarters, 18-12 and 18-10. However, the last quarter saw Power win it 26-18.
Okello James had 15 points and nine rebounds while Steve Omony and Josh Johnson posted 14 points each, the latter adding 11 rebounds in the process.
Power’s Geofrey Soro posted 16 points along with nine rebounds followed by Phillip Ameny and Steven Wundi who had 11 and 10 points respectively with an additional seven assists for each.
The loss means Betway Power must win game four slated for Tuesday in order to keep the series alive. An Oilers win would bring them closer to a sixth title.
