Grade one magistrate Moses Nabende of the Anti-Corruption Court has issued a warrant of arrest against Assistant Commissioner of Police Siraje Bakaleke. Bakaleke is implicated with seven others in an alleged multi-billion extortion case.
Bakaleke was expected to appear in court on Friday, October 5 but didn’t show up and neither did his lawyers.
D/ASP Innocent Munezero, D/ASP Nuwagaba Innocent, D/AIP Robert Asiimwe, PC Amanya Junior, PC Babu Gastavas and PC Kenneth Zirintuusa who are accused with the former Kampala South Regional Police Commander appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges of kidnap.
Five of the accused persons, through their lawyer James Byamukama, applied for bail which court granted them and asked to return to court on 19th November with a cash bail of seven million for each accused.
