The Ntungamo resident district Commissioner (RDC) Ntungamo Justine Mbabazi has challenged all village leaders to complement government efforts in maintaining the prevailing peace which was ushered in by NRM government.
According to RDC Mbabazi this will be done through waging a war against any forms of corruption while serving the public in their areas of jurisdiction.
She made remarks on Friday while presiding over the handover function of outgoing chairperson Kagarama Town council and swearing in of Village chairpersons in Kagarama Town council held in its premises Kajara county Ntungamo district.
Mbabazi expressed concern that the increased corruption amongst local leaders has hindered the development of the country saying that it must stop immediately.
The Ntungamo District chairperson Denis Singahache called upon the outgoing and incoming leaders to promote unity amongst the electorate if they are to serve them regardless of their political and religion affiliations.
The interim chairperson who is also Ihunga sub county chairperson Rubagyera Jackson hailed the people who were behind the creation of Kagarama Town council and asked new leaders to always seek guidance in his office since it open for all people.
The incoming Kagarama Town council chairperson Musinguzi Danson Ruhemba commended the interim leaders for the work done and pledged to create more two markets at Kagamba and Mbizi plots for more revenues.
The town clerk Kagarama Town council Arinaitwe Benson Rwankangi thanked government promoting urbanization and cooperation among former council led by Rubagyera and Ronnie Nyanzi which has anabled Kagarama to take big stride in two years of existence though they are still facing some challenges.
Kagarama town council was started July 2016 but it has been under the interim council of Ihunga sub county which is the mother sub county not until July 2018 when it hold elections at all levels except Namirembe cell which is still in the process and has three wards of Kagarama , Kagamba and Rutunguru.
The function was preceded by general cleaning of Kagarama Town council led by Town clerk, leaders, staff and students of St Paul SS Kagarama.
