Police in Kabale district has arrested an ex-convict with other two over alleged armed robbery and insecurity.
The suspect are; Martin Byaruhanga resident of Butobere ward kabale municipality, Katamba Benson resident of katete ward mbarara municipality and Edson Asimwe, 46 a resident of Rwabankinda cell Nyanja parish Maziba Sub County Kabale district.
The kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed the arrest and said that suspects were found a riffle AK 47 gun with 12 rounds of ammunition wrapped in a blanket , a pang, UPDF uniform and Uganda wild authority uniform, a bajaj Boxer motorycle and other clothes.
“Asimwe is an ex-convict at Mbarara prison on related cases of aggravated robbery and he was released last year in October after serving his eight year sentence” Maate said
Elly Maate says that the gun was landed on when police went for searching at Asiimwe`s premises. The gun was found wrapped in a blanket with a pang.
Upon interrogation, Asiimwe revealed his fellow suspects who were also arrested from different areas like one Mr. katamba Benson boda boda cyclist was found with a motorcycle which they robbed from Nuwagaba Fenehansi resident of kahondo parish in maziiba sub county kabale district on a gun Point.
Maate adds that the intelligence information is also connecting the suspects to recent shootings in Kabale town as interrogation and inquiries are under way.
