Police in kisoro district is investigating circumstances under which two people drowned in Lake and died instantly.
Three people drowned in Lake Mutanda in Kisoro district where two died in the water but the third one managed to swim and came out.
The victims include Pafura Musuhuke, 57 of Mwaro village Karambi subcounty and Janet Ntakirutimana, 18 years of Kigoma village Gisorora parish Nyakabande subcounty.
It’s alleged that they drowned while traveling using a canoe being controlled by Pafura and in the process, too much wind that caused a lot of water waves and the boat capsized, the two dying instantly.
According to the Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly maate, the victims surfaced immediately and were retrieved and taken to Kisoro hospital mortuary for postmortem.
This unfortunate incident happened on Saturday 01/09/18 at around 19:00 hours at Kaboko landing site.
