The Ntungamo district primary seven mock results for 2018 were released on Thursday registering poor performance of pupils.
Addressing the school managers, the Ntungamo District Education Officer Arigye Oddo warned the head teachers of private schools against sieving out the worst performing candidates at primary six and take them to government schools.
Oddo explained that some directors of private connive with the head teachers of UPE schools and sell them poor performing pupils and students such that they can remain with clever ones only which must stop immediately.
“Please teachers it is punishable to pupils or students who been in a school and take them to another school by discrimination of performance noting that they are categorized in those schools they started from,” Oddo said.
He noted that it is against the law and it also demoralizes students and accelerates poor performance of government aided schools in the district and appealed to head teachers not to accept it.
According to results released,the Ntngamo district Inspector of schools Fred Bahati a total of 9,655 registered for mock only 639 got first grade, 3,181 in second, 2,625 in third grade , 2,593 in fourth grade and 497 were un graded.
Oddo also noted that absenteeism of pupils during examinations is still a challenge which must be dealt with harshly by arresting the parents who normally frustrate their children to go for examinations.
“I cannot face auditor general because of absent pupils and student so next year we will order sub county chiefs to arrest parents who fail their children to complete examinations,” he said.
111 pupils could not finish the exams while 09 pupils never turn up.
While releasing the Primary Seven Mock examinations 2018 the secretary for education Turyasingura Edson noted that government aided schools have continued performing poorly compared to private schools which should be addressed.
Turyasingura hailed the examination body, examiners and academicians for tremendous work to reinstate the P7 mock examinations after one year stopped by selfish leaders.
The chairperson of primary head teachers association who is also head teacher Rwankoora P/S Johnson Muhinda Bashekye blamed the poor performance of pupils to political leaders who had stopped the P7 mock examinations.
However, Muhinda thanked the parents who contributed willingly in abid to uplift the academic standards of the children.
Kitunga day and boarding PS merged the first followed by Kabungo I PS and Nyakika PS as UPE schools while Grammar PS Kanyampuumo performed best followed by Brilliant Star Kafunjo PS as private schools.
