Celebrity catholic priest Fr Deogratious Kiibi Kateregga will lead a special mass for Bobi Wine, Francis Zaake and others in prison at Rubaga cathedral on Wednesday.
This website has been reliably informed that Archbishop Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has cleared the program sought by artistes and the family of Bobi Wine, to pray for all people suffering in various ways in the aftermath of the Arua municipality by election.
Fr Kiibi has met organizers of the mass, and they have agreed not to turn the prayers into a platform for politics but a spiritual activity.
Mr Matovu Junior said several associations uniting artists including the Federation of performing artistes Andrew Benon Kibuuka, the Uganda musicians association led by Julius Kyazze of Swangz Avenue, DJs, music producers, among others, are going to take part in the special mass.
The prayers have been organized by the Family of Bobi Wine led by wife Barbie and brother Eddie Yawe. Dr Hilderman, Aloysius Matovu Joy and Matovu Junior are in charge of liturgy.
MPs Bobi Wine and Zaake alongside others are battling for their lives in different places.
Fr Deogratius Kiibi Kateregga rose to stardom after a famous sermon following the death of singer Mowzey Radio. He called upon artistes and celebrities to turn to God if they are to avoid untimely catastrophes.
“All set for Bobi Wine, Hon. Zaake the Family. Those in detention and Uganda as a country… Mass is Wednesday 22nd/8/018 at Rubaga Cathedral 12:30pm dress code Black n white,” Matovu Junior, posted on his Facebook page.
Matovu Junior told this website later that, “These prayers are not meant to provoke anyone, they are purely prayers.” “We will not accept political sentimentalism among speakers,” he said.
Bobi Wine is expected in court on Thursday, after his first appearance half-dead before the court martial in Gulu. He doesn’t remember what charges he was read, according to his lawyers, MPs and family who have met him.
It is said the mass will start at exactly 1pm, and it will pray for all people affected by the disturbances that emanated from Arua municipality including deaths, beatings, imprisonment, property destruction among others.
