Last week, Main opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) made a parliamentary reshuffle which saw big wigs allegedly loyal to former party president Mugisha Muntu dropped.
Speaking about the reshuffle, Muntu said;
Fellow Ugandans,
Last Friday, the FDC leadership made changes in the composition of the shadow cabinet, Leader of Opposition (LoP) and other parliamentary positions. I congratulate all the new appointees and wish them all the best in this new chapter of their service to the country.
I would also like to take this opportunity to appreciate the great work that each of the colleagues appointed under my leadership has done over the years.
Hon. Winnie Kiizatook over LOP post at a time when many questioned the importance of it. With great poise and charisma, she rallied opposition MPs around common goals and goals. Her leadership has without doubt been the most successful when it comes to bringing together members of various political parties, including those in ruling party bold enough to stand for the people. As the first woman to occupy this position post independence , Hon. Kiiza has not only demonstrated to Ugandans the capacity women have to govern well, but is also proof that our country is not short of able, democratic and people-centred leaders. Thank you Winnie for your hard work and service.
To Hon. Cecilia Ogwal , Hon. Semujju Nganda , Hon. Reagan Okumu, Hon. Abdu Katuntu, Hon. Angeline Ossege, Hon. Gerald Karuhanga and Hon. P.P Okeen, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for all your hard work and contributions towards the furthering of democracy , justice and the rule of law in the country. By your actions and under your respective leadership roles, you challenged government to serve the nation better.
I wish to congratulate all of you upon having served your party and country with distinction and have no doubt that you will continue to work towards a nation in which leaders put the country before self.
God Bless you and God bless this beautiful pearl of Africa.
Maj. Gen. (rtd) Mugisha Muntu
