Tony Geoffrey Owana, a veteran journalist with passion for Ugandan history, especially of the National Resistance Movement, has joined Bukedde TV.
Owana, who presented state official functions on UBC TV and other history and political shows, joined Bukedde TV after it emerged his future at the national broadcaster lay in a balance.
UBC’s revamping committee head Nada Anderson had reshuffled Owana to Library and Archives and scrapped his political shows, saying, he was meant to be on television.
Owana, a well connected journalist who publicly confesses support for the ruling party, could not run out of options with the New Vision family being large to accommodate him. We understand that Owana has been at the Second Street Industrial Area media giant for about two months.
He was appointed to production and research in the television and appears on air now and then when the occasion requires his historical perspectives, such as the visit of India prime minister was in Uganda in July and when Hon Ibrahim Abiriga died.
