Lato Milk is the latest partner to come on board to sponsor the first all African Children’s Climate Change March that will take place on 28th July, 2018.
The event which will run under a theme ‘Our environment is our future and our future is our responsibility’, will start at 8am at KCCA City Hall Gardens.
Lato Milk is a healthy brand of dairy products aiming at applying the best of science and product expertise to provide families with nutritionally enriched milk products.
The dairy manufacturer’s Managing Director Mr. Shyam Kotecha said, “It is our responsibility to take care of the environment we live in for our own sake and for the sake of our Children. Lato Milk is therefore proud to be part of this noble cause, the first of its kind on the African continent,”
Apparently, the green team led by CEO and Founder of Little Hands Go Green Mr Joseph Masembe is visiting several schools and encouraging both pupils and teachers to take part in the march that is aimed at creating awareness as far as environmental conservation is concerned.
This will be the first Climate Change March by children on the entire African continent and during the event, each child will march with a tree seedling.
” If you want to plant for 10 years plant rice, if you want to plant for 20 years plant trees But if you want to plant for posterity and for generations to come, Teach and empower Children. We owe it to the generations to come to hand over the mantle of environmental conservation to our children because they have a proprietary interest in the future it belongs to them let them learn to love and nurture it” disclosed Mr. Masembe.
Some of the schools engaged so far include; Mbuya Parents School, Agakhan Primary School, Trinity Schools Uganda, Kampala Academy Primary School, Kabowa Church of Uganda, White Angels Primary School , City Parents , Silver Spoon P.S, Mother Majeri P.S, Hillside , Rainbow International , Rock View P.S Tororo, Otim Tom P.S Lira , Buganda Road Primary School among others.
Other partners are NEMA , Rotary Mission Green, KCCA, Capital FM, NFA, Better Globe Forestry, Child Africa, The Greening Spectrum, Kenya’s Little Hands Go Green and NBS TV.
The Children’s Climate Change March is organised by Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green, a civil society organisation that has twice been the recipients of the National Environmental Recognition Award from NEMA and The Rotary Vocational Service Award 2017/2018 for pioneering a new model that seeks to assign proprietary interest of a green future to the children.
