The government will continue to its scope of promoting the rights of people with disability in Uganda as stipulated in the constitution.
This has been disclosed by the vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi while gracing the 6th annual awareness and fun day for children with disability at MTN Arena Lugogo noting that the government will put in more effort to see that special children are catered for.
Meanwhile the chairman special children fund and organization that brings together organizations looking after children with disability Sam Mayanja Ssekajja noted that they face a lot of challenges such as purchasing week chairs which he says are very expensive thus urging the government to provide them to children.
He adds that according to statistics, less than 10% of children with disability attain education in Africa, and only 2% reach secondary in Uganda, urging the government to increase on the education budget for people with special needs.
