News reaching us from Tanzania indicates that friends of Ugandan socialite SK Mbuga in the country have held prayers seeking his release from jail in Dubai. Led by a former Channel Ten reporter Baraka Ngemba, a group of Tanzanians in Dar es Salaam have been holding special Duas for Allah to intervene in SK Mbuga’s problems. Mbuga was arrested in Dubai from where Sweden was seeking his extradition for offenses allegedly committed in their country. Speaking to this website from Dar es Salaam after the prayers, Baraka Ngemba, said, there are people fighting SK Mbuga, because for them he is a “a symbol of comfort, hope and charitable towards people who have lost hope”.
“He stopped thinking about his personal affairs and built a hospital at Nu-Shifah so people could be treated,” he said. Ngemba explained that the hospital has reduced congestion and medical costs for people in the area. “He gives employment for common citizens and also through some of his businesses this man remains very important with young Tanzanians. We are proud of Mbuga,” Ngemba said, adding that he is innocent though surrounded by a few people who do not like his development agenda. “These people are ‘mafia’. Very dangerous,” he told this website. Baraka Ngemba says the problems Mbuga has with Sweden will be over soon, and that he was organizing more dua prayers in different mosques in Tanzania as well as doing kind charity work like Mbuga, asking Allah to intervene in Mbuga’s situation. He said they are also praying that for people to love one another without any hatred and focus on development of their country especially for the youth.
