Uganda police have arrested the Pastor’s wife who was reportedly kidnapped recently on her way to buy land.
Mariam Kusuubira, a pastor’s wife was reportedly kidnapped on her way to Gayaza to buy a Sh20m piece of land, instead, her alleged kidnappers demanded a Sh50m ransom to release her.
On Tuesday morning, police announced that Ms Mariam had been arrested and was being held at Katwe police station. She will will be charged with “fake kidnap”.
The case of a pastor’s wife faking kidnap is a shocker to her family, church and nation as the sad development kills the efforts to find solutions to the recent wave of kidnaps.
The 46 year old Mariam, put her family and friends into much pain, as they gathered everyday at her husband’s church Noah Ark found in Masajja (A) Makindye Ssabaagabo in Wakiso District.
Mariam’s husband, Pastor Shadrach Kusuubira pleaded with the fake kidnappers who his wife had given her phone to use to call him, saying, his church didn’t have the money they were demanding.
“We don’t have that much with us. Look at our church, could we be having that much money and pray from a structure like this?” Shadrach asked.
He reported the case to Namasuba Kikajo police post.
