The Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Uganda His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Fahd Al-Qahtani has hosted Muslims for an Iftar dinner at Sheraton Hotel Rwenzori ball room in Kampala.
The dinner was attended by a cross section of Muslims who included a high level delegation from UMSC headquarters Old Kampala led by His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Shk. Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.
Muslim professionals including diplomats, politicians, traditional leaders, academicians and clerics were also invited for the Iftar.
Among other notable Muslim personalities present were the Deputy Mufti of Uganda Shk. Abdallah Semambo, the 2nd Deputy Mufti Shk. Muhammad Ali Waiswa and Shk. Obed Kamulegeya (Shk. Mukulu) the Director of Muslim World League.
Within the short time that he has served in Uganda as the Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Dr. Al-Qahtani has strengthened relations between the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Uganda and Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.
He has also lobbied for the construction of Muslim centers across Uganda starting with Jinja Muslim District where two Saudi funded centers worth US$23 million are under construction.
He has also committed to partner with UMSC in the areas of education, health, economic empowerment, and Daawa by reviving the over 21 Muslim covert centers project which had stalled since 1979.
He has also demonstrated his commitment to supporting Muslim unity in Uganda. This was evident during the Iftar Dinner which was attended by Muslims from different backgrounds.
Ambassador Al-Qahtani should therefore be commended for opening a new chapter in the relationship between the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Muslims of Uganda in general.
He has the full support of Muslims in Uganda and we pray that Allah rewards him abundantly.
Other Muslim diplomats in Uganda are also urged to emulate Ambassador Alkahtani for a stronger Ummah.
