Denis Alyenyo,33 a son to Lt Col. Francis Ongia was last Thursday abducted by unknown people from his home in Maga Maga, Mayuge District along the Jinja-Iganga Highway and now kidnappers are demanding for shs15 million as ransom.
Lt Col. Ongia is the chairperson of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) in Amolator District.
Preliminary findings indicate that the abductors were reportedly seeking a shs7 million ransom before freeing Alyenyo.
However, unconfirmed reports on Tuesday indicated that the ransom had risen to shs15 million.
Alyenyo is a civilian who works with the Ministry of Defence at Maga Maga barracks and also runs a small business with colleagues in the canteens in the unit.
Lt Col Ongia says although the abductors have persistently avoided talking to him, he is willing to cooperate and give in to their demands only if they have proof of life.
According to Daily Monitor, security agencies are treading cautiously in their quest to free Alyenyo by avoiding mistakes that might lead to his death.
