On Saturday, President Yoweri Museveni and his Kenya counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned a one-stop border post at Busia, the second busiest entry point for Uganda.
Speaking at the event, Museveni said for a long time, Africans have been asleep but what they have done shows that Africa is getting out of slumber.
He noted that lack of unity, coupled with these border separations, have had catastrophic consequences on the two countries.
“The Busia facility will be improved. For example, we need X-ray technology to check loaded trucks and stop this method ofmanual checking. We need to use modern technology,” said Museveni adding, “We are also working on using radar stations on the lake to curb fish smuggling and catching immature fish,”
He further thanked President Uhuru and his government for the spirit of cooperation.
“I thank Trademark EA, President Kenyatta and the government of Kenya for this spirit of cooperation. I also thank the people of Busia for supporting the NRM government,”
