Speaker Rebecca Kadaga will be hearing out dramatist Philip Luswata’s issues over the management of national theatre.
Luswata who started a fast protest on Wednesday was this morning ushered in to the Speaker’s office to officially seek audience with Kadaga.
Luswata and other artists are against the redevelopment plans of the national theatre by government without involvement of stakeholders.
Luswata who started his fast at dawn, met Kadaga’s Secretary and booked an appointment with the Speaker.
He said, “I, this morning, staged my fast (protest) infront between the Parliament and National Theater Buildings. I was politely asked by the Parliament Security to go with them and seek an appointment with the Speaker. I met the PPS to the Speaker who listened to my protest and encouraged that we seek an appointment with the Speaker to present our petition as unhappy and sad artistes. This will happen tomorrow Thursday 1st September. So the conversation has begun. On an unfortunate note, artites and journalist are now not allowed into the National Theatre premises.”
