Police in Lungujja a suburb of Kampala have in detention four suspects, arrested during a night operation.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire, the thugs moving in a group of 10 stormed bars with belts and pangas, emptied the pockets of all the occupants in the bars and set out. The same group proceeded to Wakaliga Zone B where they battered a one Kizito Remmy leaving him with terrible cuts on the head.
The victim was rushed to Mengo hospital for medical attention. The locals were able to pursue the suspects in a joint hunt with police and crime preventers. Four suspects were overpowered, arrested and taken to Old Kampala Police Station.
“The suspects in custody have been identified as Kayondo Ibrah, Ntambi Joseph, Siiwa Emmanuel and Ssekandi Andrew”, Owoyesigyire said.
The arrest follows recent numerous successful operations that have been conducted by police in different city suburbs, leading to a crackdown on a number of criminals and unearthing of several dark spots.
Owoyesigyire says that police conducted a search at the suspects homes and two pangas were were recovered.
