President Yoweri Museveni has said the striking doctors have betrayed him and are going to regret their decision to lay down their tools as they are going to be sacked and replaced.
Museveni said that the striking doctors will soon be replaced by people who are hungry for jobs if they fail to use the scarce available resources the country is offering.
“I will not accept Ugandans to die, doctors who don’t want to work will be sacked,” he said.
He made the remarks while addressing a wealth creation and improved wealth rally in Kabarole district.
However, local media reported that the president was invited by MP Margaret Muhanga to attend her age limit consultation at Karambi sub-county grounds.
doctors went on strike last week to protest against low pay and poor working conditions.
According to minister of health, Jane Ruth Aceng, Museveni authorised the deployment of doctors from the armed forces i.e UPDF, Police and Prisons in Mulago, Kawempe and Kiruddu hospitals after negotiations with the doctors on Wednesday yielded no fruits.
