Kansanga based Kampala International University [KIU] is set to witness an increase in the number of first class graduates this year .
This was revealed by the vice chancellor of KIU Dr. Mohammed Mpezamihigo in a pre-graduation press briefing that took place on Wednesday afternoon at the university main campus in Kansanga.
Dr. Mpezamihigo said that 32 first class degrees shall be witnessed as compared to last year which was only 17.
Among these 22% are female yet the 78% make up the male counterparts.
The percentage number of female graduates is 40% lower than the male which is at 60%. On this note the vice chancellor confirmed his happiness for the strength that female students are putting in to make sure that they study hard.
He highlighted that this is due to the increased number of scholarships that KIU gives to Ugandan students which has made the number of local students at a percentage of 84 far higher than that of international students which is only 16%.
On this day more teachers from the college of education shall be witnessed at a percentage of 33 as compared to 25% from the science and technology,23% in the business section and 19% from the school of arts and sciences.
The vice chancellor assured the public and students that this time round, academic transcripts shall not take long as it has previously been.
“I must say that this time round we shall take the shortest period to produce student’s transcripts as compared to the previous years so long as someone has cleared.” Said Mpezamihigo.
The graduation is set for Saturday 18th November 2017 at the university main campus in Kansanga.
KIU is one of a few chattered private universities in Uganda which makes all its students recognized both nationally and internationally.
