President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday met a delegation of leaders from Northern Uganda at his country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhuura district. The 17-man delegation of NRM Sub County Chairpersons from Northern Uganda’s districts of Gulu and Omoro lead by Northern Uganda vice chairman Sam Engola told the president they still needed him as president of Uganda.
The Secretary of the Sub-County Chairpersons, Ms. Christine Olok, who presented the memorandum of the delegation, saluted President Museveni for maintaining security in the country.
She said that they are pleased to note that the President has put in place a disciplined Army. She refuted allegations by some characters that the Acholi Sub-Region does not support NRM. She revealed that the people of Northern Uganda in particular and Uganda as a whole need him as President. The delegation thanked him for the provision of funds to Women and Youth.
Museveni called on wananchi to establish Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) as part of the measures to foster development.
“We need to empower the people. When they make a SACCO and we supplement its resources, it would foster the development process. By strengthening the SACCOs, it would empower the people economically,” he said.
He expressed happiness to see that there were young leaders within NRM.
